Temporary Resident Visas (TRV) For Business Visitors

Entering Canada as a Foreign or International Business Traveler
Businesspersons and business delegations who are foreign nationals will require a Canadian temporary resident visa (TRV) to enter Canada on a temporary basis if their visit is related to trade and commerce. Depending on their country of origin or nationality, they will either require a visa or an electronic travel authorization (eTA).
Businesspersons who are eligible for a visa may obtain single-entry or multiple-entry visas as well as transit visas. The visa is issued by a visa office and shows that the businessperson has met the requirements for admission to Canada as a temporary resident. A businessperson may have a pending permanent resident application with Citizenship and Immigration Canada while applying to visit Canada temporarily. This is known as dual intent, still the businessperson will be able to obtain a TRV if they can show an immigration officer they plan to leave Canada when the duration of the TRV expires or if the pending permanent residency application is refused. However, other factors are examined by an immigration officer before a TRV is issued. The businessperson applying for a TRV will have to disclose the length of stay in Canada, furnish proof of adequate funds or means to support their authorized stay in Canada, and submit evidence of ties to country of origin, among other requirements. If you are a businessperson whose application for temporary residence was not approved, or pending because an immigration officer was not satisfied you have met all the conditions and requirements, please contact us to schedule a legal consultation*.
