Ms. Rokeya Chowdhury, Ph.D., brings to New Era Immigration law firm a rich academic background, along with extensive professional experience garnered over the span of ten (10) years.

Dr. Chowdhury obtained her Doctor of Civil Law degree from McGill University’s Faculty of Law and is an O’Brien Fellow. She commenced working at New Era Immigration in January 2019 as a Corporate Mobility Advisor and works on our Canadian and U.S. corporate immigration cases. She has developed advance proficiency in E Visas (Treaty Trader and Treaty Investor), O Visas (Extraordinary Ability), TN Visas, B-1/B-2 Business Visitor Letter, L Visas (Intracompany transferees), and Employment-based Green Cards (I-140). On the Canadian side, she is proficient in International Mobility Program work permit and business visitor applications. She has also worked extensively on strategizing COVID-19 travel restriction exceptions and quarantine exemptions for our clients during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Dr. Chowdhury is a high-level and out-of-the box thinker, recognized for her excellent work quality.

Her previous education includes an LL.M. on Comparative Law from McGill University, Canada, as well as an LL.M. from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She obtained her law degree, LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of Dhaka. A former lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Dhaka (2013-2018), Dr. Chowdhury has held visiting faculty positions at several other universities. She has worked with Dr. Kamal Hossain and Associates, a leading law firm in Bangladesh headed by Dr. Kamal Hossain, an international arbitrator (ICSID) and a reputed jurist.

Dr. Chowdhury has also worked extensively as an independent consultant with NGOs and INGOs, including National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh, Article 19, and Relief International. She has presented her research at the University of Toronto and the University of Cambridge.

With her diversified career and commitment to inclusiveness, Dr. Chowdhury brings to New Era Immigration both the depth of understanding and creative skills necessary to meet the unique needs of our accomplished clientele.
