NAFTA Professionals

Assisting Professionals from Mexico & U.S. With Temporary Work Permits in Canada

NAFTA Professionals

Temporary Work Permits Under the Canadian International Mobility Program
Certain professionals who are citizens of the U.S. or Mexico, Canada's partners in NAFTA, may qualify for employment in Canada if they meet the requirements for this work permit category.

To qualify, the profession of the applicant must be recognized as an eligible occupation under the Canadian International Mobility Program of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the applicant must possess the necessary qualifications to work in the profession such as licenses and certifications, and a Canadian employer must be willing to employ the candidate and all arrangements are made to hire the applicant. The applicant must furnish proof of an employment contract or an employment offer.

Professionals in the category will have to consider a solution that fits their personal needs if they have accompanying dependents, and explore other requirements such as where to apply, length of stay and employment in Canada, and the period of validity of the work permit. Therefore, if you are a professional from the U.S. or Mexico and wishing to obtain a permit to work for a Canadian employer under NAFTA, or if your work permit application has been denied, please contact us to schedule a legal consultation*.
